Brushstrokes of Light:

Exploring the Journey of Fine Art Oil Painting with Julie Brayton

Hi There,

I’m not sure I told you but I have been given the stamp of “Remission” !

I have been feeling like my usual self so I’ve been catching up on things I didn’t have the energy to do this year.  My last show was in Scituate RI which went from a 3 day to a 1 day due to a Nor’easter.

I also have been working on various types of art. I’ve mentioned before my passion and desire to Plein Air paint. I have been taking every opportunity to get out there. I often join two groups when I can who Plein Air. One group in Connecticut and the other in the North Kingstown and surrounding areas. I also made my way to Jamestown. I’ll show you some of the “starts”. I am not ususally able to get a painting done in one visit because the light changes so fast. See Below photos of me from last Monday at Morris Farm in Exeter RI. Cute little place.

I have also started working on some abstract ideas. I have painted a few, almost all of which have sold. I’m considering going large with them.

I’ve been working feverishly on my Painted Tides Design Etsy Shop  I have so many ideas Lol! Being capable in Photoshop and Illustrator I can make digital designs using my art or art I license. I will take watercolor art I buy and reconfigure it in these platforms creating some fun designs to apply to various products.

I need your opinion on some of my designs if you don’t mind. It’s easy to get wrapped up in your own head on these things. Below I have added to Zebra patterned fish designs. These are on ceramic coasters. Do you like the one with white or without? I was also thinking of making the white rectangular. I have some other fish designs with stripes for prints and other prducts. I need to upload them to my shop still. Your response is greatly appreciated!

For those interested in learning to paint, keep a watch for the release of my new and improved course in January.

There’s so much to tell but I’ll save some for next time.

One more thing, I am participating in a little picture show at the Spring Bull Gallery in Newport. I’ll have three pieces in the show. Opening is November 2 . Show runs November 1-December 31, 2025

My Why

My goal or mission is to bring reminders and connection to the importance each individual has through the connection to nature. How we all can honor the essence of who we have always been meant to be. Creativity, whether through collecting art or creating it, is a healing force that allows us to embrace, tell and own our stories in a transformative and ultimately joyful way.

How does nature and art make you feel? Comment below.

I would love to hear from you!
