Julie Brayton Plein Air Painting

Brushstrokes of Light:

Exploring the Journey of Fine Art Oil Painting with Julie Brayton

Hi,

I hope all is well!

With the onset of the season and me being back to normal healthwise, I have been working hard on my business.

The show season is here but may be my last in terms of how many, if any, shows I do and my plan to restructure my mode of operation.

My passion is Plein Air (Open Air) painting. There is nothing like capturing the moment. The senses become all encompassing making for a more pure depiction of what I see and how I feel. These Plein Air sessions often turn into a larger in studio painting but I have the experince behind it to bring the same feeling and freshness. Keep an eye out for more on that.

This painting “Shimmering Beach”, although done solely in studio, came from a walk on the beach with my daughter. We love to go to a local beach where practically no one is there off season. She can let her very obedient dogs run, my daughter, granddaughter and I get to spend time together and I get amazing reference for future paintings. This is one of them.

You never know what you’re going to get when you get to the beach but it rarely disappoints. This time the light was sparkeling and dancing off the water. I had to capture it. Wait until you see the new work from a subsequent visit!! The Light was amazing!!

I unveiled many new paintings at my first show of the year, a private event at my clients and friends house in North Kingstown. This event, usually done April or May, is the time I bring never before seen paintings and offer at a introductory low price. Once that event is over, the prices go back up for the shows and even more for the gallery. They turn out very successful!

I am so appreciative of the couple who host the event but also to those who have so kindley attended them. Some have come every event!

If you would like to host one, Let me know. the host gets a gift of art for their effort.

I look forward to sharing new work with you soon!

My Why

My goal or mission is to bring reminders and connection to the importance each individual has through the connection to nature. How we all can honor the essence of who we have always been meant to be. Creativity, whether through collecting art or creating it, is a healing force that allows us to embrace, tell and own our stories in a transformative and ultimately joyful way.
