Hauling The Pot

I am a native Rhode Island artist and fisherman’s daughter, I am drawn to the beauty of the sea and of our state.

Creativity – both on and off the canvas –is a healing force that allows us to embrace, tell, and own our stories in transformative, ultimately joyful ways.

Painting has always been a way to absorb myself in something meaningful. Starting at 13 I painted my first painting and never stopped.  The challenge of mastering a new skill helped me grow as a person. In addition, I’ve always felt a deep connection to nature and animals. Painting them has resulted in my comfort and joy! My effort to represent or interpret them forces me to focus and study up close. This takes me away!

As time went on I realized there was more to this.

It became clear that my passion was about every human having the right to connect and be rejuvenated by nature. All humans should have the ability and time to appreciate, absorb, and care for the beauty made for our enjoyment and refreshment to be thankful to the one who created it. To be comforted and inspired releasing everyone’s creative potential.

This has led me to a mission of bringing this connection and comfort to others like you through my art.

I start by attracting the viewer, you, through color. Having learned to see the color of light and paint the subtle nuances of color in nature, my painting vibrates with color. Once you are drawn in you start to think. You become intrigued with the use of color, the scene itself, and how it reminds you of a comforting place. I love watching this happen! Finally, you and I are sharing a moment because I spoke to you through my art and now you need this feeling around you regularly. My paintings bring into my client’s life a snippet of who they are, what’s important to them, and the nature or subject they love so much into their homes. When the painting is done of a favorite location this heightens the experience keeping memories close. The reaction I have gotten when I deliver paintings is an overwhelming expression of joy and satisfaction!

When we paint our joy, wear our joy, or even decorate our joy, we are honoring the essence of who we were always meant to be.
