Exploring the Journey of Fine Art Oil Painting with Julie Brayton

One Morning when sunrise was at 5am I made a point to get up and drive down the road to capture the sunrise that happens in a very short window.

I actually got up two mornings in a row because the first morning I got down there at 5:30 and it was a bit too late. On my way to Weekapaug beach there is a marsh. As a lot of scenes, whether due to time of day or time of year, a vista can look different offering a plethera of paintings. In this case one particular morning is offering me a series of paintings of various angles of the same light. 

When I paint my goal and focus is capturing the color of  light. It’s always exciting and challenging to relay the subtle nuances of color that emphasizes the light conditions. Contrary to popular light conditions as it pertains to the general public, I find grey days the most challenging and love to  capture them using color opposed to blacks and browns. I don’t get to paint them very often however. Maybe over the winter….stay tuned on that. 

In the meantime, morning and late afternoon light packs a punch and I love painting them. I mentioned a Marsh Lace series and I finally got to get started on that theme. Even I went WOW after I finished the first one. It was everything I had hoped it would be.

I will be bringing them to my last two scheduled outdoor shows, both in October, Old Saybrook CT and Scituate RI. I may plan a private event at my home and studio in there somewhere too.

That said, I am looking for Home Art Event opportunities. If you are open to opening your home or business and inviting friends and colleques for an enjoyable presentation of art wth food and drinks, no place too small or too far away, respond to this email.

There was another painting subject I started that turned into my spotlight painting. I ended up selling the first, getting a commission to do another and have two different versions I will be presenting at the shows. 

Around all that I have made a major change to my Painting The Color Of Light Course Program. I’ll talk about that in the Learning To Paint Module back in the initial email.
