Brushstrokes of Light:
Exploring the Journey of Fine Art Oil Painting with Julie Brayton
Dear Friend,
Some of the most beautiful moments I’ve witnessed along the coast have happened after a storm.
This painting was inspired by one such afternoon. The storm had passed, the air felt fresh and alive, and the sun hung low in the sky. Though it was beginning its descent toward the horizon, its light was still strong enough to transform the ocean into something magical.
As I watched, a wave rose from the sea and caught the sunlight. For just a few fleeting seconds, it glowed with brilliant golds, greens, blues, and violets before crashing back into the water. It was one of those moments that reminded me why I paint.
A camera could record the wave, but it couldn’t fully capture what I saw—the color of light dancing across its surface and the feeling of standing there in that moment.
That’s what I wanted to preserve in this painting.
Nature has a way of reminding us that beauty often follows turbulence. Sometimes the brightest light appears only after the storm has passed.
I hope this painting brings that same sense of peace, energy, and renewal into your home.
Stay Dry! My feet got wet capturing this moment with a surprise rogue wave!! Lol

Warmly,
Julie Brayton
